After decades in international high finance, I have an endless supply of anecdotes, most of which would likely sound quite outlandish to the outside world. A novel gave me the perfect medium to tell such stories, in a fictionalized manner.
My first novel, A Most Private Bank, is clearly a work of fiction. At the same time, it is to a large degree based on real life experiences in a world that few are ever invited to share.
In terms of style, there are a few authors who provided me with invaluable sources of inspiration. The most obvious homage I pay is to Hammett. They don't make 'em like that anymore!
