Patricia Correll I've been interested in Asian culture for a long time and take a lot of inspiration from Asian mythology. Both my collection 'Late Summer, Early Spring' and the novellas 'The Corpse-Eater' 'Peony Lanterns' are based on Japanese folklore. They every or has already been done, so I enjoy taking the old stories and playing with them. I hope I can give them my own spin!
Patricia Correll I don't. I've never really had writer's block (for which I am grateful). If I get stuck on one project I just work on another for a while. In general I have the opposite problem though- too many ideas, too many stories, never enough time to work on them all.
Patricia Correll I saw a documentary about bog bodies in Europe and Britain/Ireland. One was a woman in Denmark who'd been found in a pond, pinned down by forked branches. Another, Cashel Man, is speculated to have been a tribal king who was sacrificed because his people were having a hard time and offering a king to the gods was a serious sacrifice. This pair of bog bodies became my two main characters.
