From the previous book. :) I've been lucky. When I wrote the first book set in my imaginary Dereham, I had no idea of the fun I would have spiralling out through the auxiliary characters, and also going back to a slightly earlier period with different characters and exploring that.

I try to write every day. I try not to wait for inspiration. I wasted too much of my earlier writing life thinking that I should be "inspired". Now I've learnt, possibly too late, that you just do the work.
