Britt Holewinski I read "Lord of the Flies" when I was sixteen and was completely haunted by the idea of children running amok on a deserted island. Expanding this to a global event became an obsession of mine, and I began writing drafts of what would eventually become "Schism" my junior year of high school.
Britt Holewinski Everyday is different, but if I'm writing something that I'm uncertain about the outcome, I'll go for a walk and listen to music and visualize possibilities for the characters in a tricky scene. That usually helps me get into the mood.
Britt Holewinski I go for a run and listen to music. This almost always works.

If I'm tired, I play a little game called, "One Letter, Ten Words." I take a single letter, and try to make a comprehensible, ten-word sentence:

"Weeping willows work wonders when welcoming weary women with worries."

If I can write this, I can write the next word of my novel. Full-stop.

But, if that doesn't do the trick, I watch silly YouTube video until I'm guilted back into writing.
Britt Holewinski I'm currently working on the next book in my "Schism" series. I hope to finish it by the end of 2016.
Britt Holewinski I love being able to create my own world with its own rules, places, and characters. It's a very freeing and satisfying feeling. And writing is something that I can do anywhere...as long as I have my laptop with me!
Britt Holewinski The most difficult part of writing is getting beyond the moments of self-doubt and the feeling that what you are writing is something that no one will want to read. You have to believe that you have a unique and powerful story to tell and to focus on what makes your story so compelling.
