C. James Gilbert Hello,
I am a historical fiction writer, my interest in reading also leans towards that same genre. One of my favorite writers is John Jakes. This summer I will be reading Mr. Jakes's North and South trilogy. Another John Jakes novel that I would highly recommend is called, On Secret Service. I have read it twice and will probably read it again.

C. James Gilbert My favorite fictional couple is James and Polly Langdon from the historical fiction novel, "A Deeper Sense of Loyalty". They are my favorite because I identify with their desire to show the world that all people are equal and that discrimination and racism are sins against God. They are also my favorite because I created them.
C. James Gilbert The idea for my most recent book is in essence, an extended idea from the first book because my most recent book is a sequel.
C. James Gilbert My interest in writing began back in the 4th grade in English class. The teacher would take a picture from a magazine and tape it to the blackboard. It may have been a picture of a beautiful landscape or maybe a picture of a city street. Then the class was told to get up and go take a good look at the picture. Then we were instructed to write a story about what we saw in the picture. It could be humorous, mysterious, science fiction, etc., but the story had to come from just what we saw in the picture. I enjoyed it immensely and it was then that I knew I had a passion for writing.
C. James Gilbert I have two books published; the first two books of the trilogy I am writing. I am currently working on the third and final book. The Langdon Trilogy presently includes, "A Deeper Sense of Loyalty", and "A Darker Shade of Freedom".
C. James Gilbert To all of the aspiring writers out there I would say, if you really want to be a writer then it must be something that you feel deep inside because the desire to write is not just a notion but rather something that you feel you are supposed to do. I was 58 when my first novel was published but I always knew that it was something that I was meant to do and the feeling never left me. Stay the course and you will reach your goal.
C. James Gilbert For me, the best thing about being a writer is that it allows me to use my creativity. I enjoy creating characters and turning them into real people by bringing them to life on the pages of my novels.
C. James Gilbert I seldom get writer's block, when I write, my mind is always moving forward which keeps me out ahead of this dreaded occupational hazard. I would suggest, however, that if you get stuck, back up and get a running start by going over what you've already written. Chances are the momentum will get you rolling again.
