Oh, wow. I have a number of techniques. I typically have a lot of resistance to getting down to work. So, I have an arsenal of tricks.
Often I close my email program and my web browser and set a timer for 45 minutes and tell myself I must sit at the computer with my current project. No internet surfing or checking email. No getting up to go to the bathroom and no looking in the fridge.
I twitch and moan for a few minutes, but then I usually settle into the work. Once I get going, I can get a lot done in 45 mins!
After the 45 mins are up, I give myself a reward—email or a little browsing. Or even better lunch!
