It was a great opportunity to spend quality time with my father, re-visiting old places and talking about his working life, the interesting characters and stories of that generation make for a compelling read.
I also realised that with my father getting older, if I didn't take the opportunity to get these stories down for younger generations to appreciate. they would simply disappear and get lost in time.
