Music was what inspired me. The idea popped into my head while listening to an obscure Bb Dylan song Fourth Time Around. "I stood there and hummed. I tapped on her drum...and gallantly handed her my last piece of gum."
I can't explain it but an entire story unfolded. Music does that to me.

Just do it. If I can do it, anyone can. Just open the blank screen and start writing. You can't edit something if there's nothing there to edit. Get it down and fix it later.

I have finished a third novel. It is from a male point of view. Samuel Ryder is a middle aged man who's wife has left him to run a food truck in Denver. He has worked in sales all his life but now writes books late at night while working at the front desk of a hotel. The story goes back and forth throughout the decades of his life and there is a lot of rock 'n roll.

I got the idea for Take Me Home while on a road trip out west. My youngest daughter was finishing school in Denver and working at Yellowstone National Park for the summer so my husband and I drove her out there.
I fell in love with Eastern Idaho near Henry's Fork, just west of Yellowstone. The rolling potato fields set agains the backdrop of the Tetons were beautiful. We stayed in a fishing lodge and a very flirtatious man from New Zealand was in the room next to us. A chapter popped into my head. It didn't end up being the first chapter but it got the book rolling.
