Ha! My border collies want to play ALL the time. They have difficulty understanding that sometimes I actually have to write and can't be their personal playmate 24/7. This causes much distress and discussion. Yes, I try to explain that sometimes people have to do people things. Despite our discussions, I still don't think they get it. It just makes them crazy...

Its not easy. Finding an idea that can produce an entire story and continue to engage the reader is challenging. Trips to the fridge and walks around the block help me figure out the story, conflicts, characters, and subtext. Not a scientific method, but one that works for me!

It's hard. There are many distractions. Lots of other things you'd rather do. Like go shopping, have lunch, be with your friends, and enjoy social media. Long walks inspire me. I really believe women need to make a concerted effort to help each other, particularly in the workplace. I wanted to write something about four very disparate women who seem to have nothing in common, but find that despite their different backgrounds and interests, that they are actually quite similar. Wanted to write something about the power of female friendship and how important it is for women to help rather than hurt one another.
