Samantha Lienhard Keep writing, and don't worry if your story doesn't seem good in its first draft. First drafts can be pretty rough. Get the story written and then focus on revisions, having other people read it, etc. It can be a long process, but for me, getting that rough draft worked out is a vital first step.
Samantha Lienhard Everything inspires me. Books, video games, people, the environment, cool facts I learn about... it can be anything. Usually it's a mix of inspirations that come together. I might start with a plot concept, a scene, a character, or even just an image. Once I start thinking it through, the rest follows.
Samantha Lienhard I enjoy so many aspects of being a writer, it's hard to name one as the best. If I have to choose, I think I'd say the best thing about being a writer is creating something other people enjoy.

When someone reads my story and tells me they liked it, or it made them smile, or my plot twist shocked them... that makes me want to write more. I like knowing that I can create stories that have an effect on people.
Samantha Lienhard I have several projects at the moment. My main work-in-progress is Penteract of Blood, the dark fantasy novel I'm writing as my graduate thesis in Seton Hill's Writing Popular Fiction Program. It's gone through a lot of changes--it barely resembles my initial idea at all anymore--but I really like where it is now, and I can't wait to see where revisions take me.

I'm also editing some of my older novels, working on some new short stories, and even developing a text-based horror adventure game called The Mansion.
Samantha Lienhard Thanks, I'm doing well. I hope you have a good day, too.
Samantha Lienhard I force myself to write. Even if it's painful, even if the writing is horrible, I just churn out sentences. After a while, this gets me past the writer's block and I can return to normal, enjoyable writing.
