Follow the advice of those who have gone before you! I wish I had been brave enough as a twenty-something to strike out on my own and attend writing classes and conferences. I feel like my career could have started a decade ahead of time if I had been braver. Since many authors are introverts, I think this is a challenging but necessary step.

I do something completely not book related. Usually I'll take a walk, or take the dogs for a walk, but I've also been known to tear apart a room and paint it. Sometimes I'll simply pick up a book or two to read, since I can usually plow through one in 8 hours. A day off with distractions is a great way to let the creative juices simmer.

I would love to visit Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I think I'd have to tame Buckbeak. I don't think I'm a worthy enough opponent to tackle a dragon.
