Adam Mannan Make the time to write. Do at least a little everyday.
If you can work to a schedule do so. Start it off small and grow into it, then expand it.
Plan out your story, characters and Worlds as much as you need to tell your stories.
Keep learning, there is always more that you can do to improve and to increase the scope of the stories you tell.
Read as much as you can and read about writing too. The process gets easier and more streamlined with practice, but you can also learn a lot by speaking with other authors or reading books on writing. Whatever you do, find your voice and learn but do not be intimidated.
Join groups on Goodreads with interesting things to say. E.g. if you are writing a Fantasy novel have a look at: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Think either about your audience or about the books you want to write. If the two coincide then congratulations, if not then it will be harder, but it does not mean you won't get there.
Never give up. If it does not work out, but you enjoy the process and can afford to continue, try harder.

The most important bit of advice is enjoy it.
Adam Mannan Just keep writing. The more you write the easier the writing will come. I don't suffer from blocks, but there are times when my writing is delayed.

Sometimes when I am telling a story or intend to write a particular scene and another scene comes into my head and it feels so right that I have to get it down. This can be bad if it leads into several books trying to escape simultaneously. Especially when those books are as intensive and convoluted as the stories I like. If that happens any hope of a schedule goes completely out of the window. (I'm getting better though, the Jedi mind-tricks are really helping. Note-to-self, don't answer the question: What are you currently working on?)

Another delay problem which I sometimes suffer is insecurity over the quality of what I'm producing. I used to agonise over this when I started writing. Now however, I find that if this occurs I just need to read someone else for a while. If I'm in a rush, I have a shelf with some bestsellers on it that I consider dire in so many ways. Reading a passage or two from those books is probably enough to make a chimp feel like a littérateur.
