I get to research topics I'm passionate about, and incorporate the fascinating tidbits into fictional stories. I love learning about anything paranormal on the metaphysical side: psychics, telekinesis, precognition, you name it. I have close friends who are very talented psychics, but even so, I do a ton of research on these kinds of abilities and the people who claim to have them. Did you know that millions of research trials have been conducted on these topics in research labs like Princeton, Columbia and other top level universities? And the coolest news to come out of these labs--these human abilities are for real. Fun stuff, right?
