I walk away. I talk to myself. I think about other possibilities. I don't write outlines or notes. I lose a lot of ideas that way, but stepping away from the computer tends to knock down the writer's block.

The best thing about being a writer is holding the paperback and/or hard cover in my hands as a finished product. After a month or more of nonstop writing, editing, creating the cover, and prepping the content, I feel like I've accomplished my dreams every time I publish my book.

My most recent book is called A Thousand Irreplaceable Pieces, and I wrote it without an outline or a sense of how it was going to end. Oddly enough, my idea was based on a black box in an airplane, and it grew from there.
