I get my ideas from every day life. Like I can be watching a TV show or listening to music and something will come to me. Or hearing a story from a friend and thinking that would be awesome in a book. Sometimes, random scene ideas just come to me too.

I write around the block, whether it be starting the next chapter or maybe brainstorming or outlining past the block and writing another scene further along in the book and coming back to it.

I think it was more of a case of Zander being focussed on getting in and getting out (doing the strip etc) and also Mac answering the door first, then being outside when he was leaving, and the rest is history. I think he always SAW Kate though.
