Is there really such a thing a a black thoroughbred? I looked in about a dozen racing programs and can't find one. It is certainly a writer's right to create one and black certainly adds "Color" to the story. I loved the rest of the authentic racing language and descriptions.

And, to answer your question: there are 'black' thoroughbreds, and this color isn't to be confused with 'dark bay.' For a thoroughbred to be truly 'black,' there can be no brown hair in their coat.
