Gil Miller Sometimes I get lucky and I'm "inspired" because the characters are calling to me to tell their stories. Most of the time it's a conscious effort to just sit down and do it.
Gil Miller Do you mean my most recent release, or my work in progress? Either way, the answer is similar. Each of my stories start with something I've seen around me, or heard about from someone. Then I say "what if?" and the story starts creating itself in my mind. At a certain point, I say to myself, "I need to write this down!"
Gil Miller The thing I like most about being a writer is inviting readers to share my world. When I'm working on a book, I am excited about the characters and the world I am building, and want readers to get that same feeling. Sharing stories is one of the most rewarding things a person can do, and as humans it is one of the best ways that we can connect with each other.
Gil Miller If the words aren't coming easy on the book in front of me, I switch to something else for awhile. I always have plenty of ideas, and sometimes just playing around with another story, or another genre, is the best way to get the creativity flowing again.
Gil Miller I am currently working on the 4th book involving my character Lyle Villines. I will be releasing the first three books soon as well.
Gil Miller My best advice is to just keep writing. The more you write, the best you will be, and the more material you will have in the world. And never stop learning your craft. There is always room for improvement.
