How do you get inspired to write?
Amy Werbel I have been passionate about historical research since high school. Once I get a juicy research question in my head, it's a bit of a dog-with-bone situation and I can't let it go until I answer it! Writing flows from research. I love the English language, and am always excited to see how fully I can express my ideas in fluid, accessible, and articulate prose.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Amy Werbel When I was researching my book on Thomas Eakins, Comstock was mentioned as a threat by members of the art community, but I couldn't find much information about him. I thought it would be fascinating to see American at the time through his eyes.
