Musing about climate change. I'm a sci-fi fanatic (as reflected in the amount of sci-fi I consume and write) and I wanted to put my new characters in a sci-fi future after climate change had done its work (similar to what happened in my previous story called Stealing Some Time). This time though, I wanted to change around the time travel element a bit from how it was laid out in Stealing Some Time.

This is difficult to answer because ideas constantly just pop into my head. The only outside influence aside from my own subconscious is when I'm working on a futuristic story line. I will look up info on current cutting edge inventions in technology, social/cultural issues, etc, and project them into the far future. It helps to exercise my mind.

My ninth novel (as of Nov 2015). The cover art is being worked on now and in 2016 I intend to have it published.

Do this. A story always centers around characters. To properly determine who they are and how they'll act at any given moment I write out very elaborate biographies. Very elaborate. I know what vegetables they hate, when they got chicken pox, and how long their refractory period is (for the guys), etc. Everything. Knowing your characters very well helps you engage with them fully.

The creative process itself. Yes, that's a huge sprawling topic, but suffice it to say that I view creativity as a magical process. While engaged in a story line I'm enveloped inside magic.

Easy. I step back from the process and determine how my characters feel. Actions always follow feelings, so I have to know what my characters feel to know how they will proceed.
