Well, I'm always inspired to write. I don't put false expectations on myself, or set a schedule because that turns it into a job for me. Writing is like a play date. I know it works for some people to put "but in chair" at a set time, but that just sets me up for failure. If I just let it happen, it happens, and it turns out way better when I'm inspired, and get a great idea that I have to sit and down and put on the computer, rather than if I force my writing. I never like the result if it is forced, and it comes from my heart when it isn't. And the difference shows.

For Boom Boom, I asked myself questions. What hasn't been done regarding the 4 seasons yet? Which of the 5 senses isn't usually done by authors -- this I answered myself--which was sounds and smells. What if I did the sounds of the seasons? Boom Boom Boom, for the sound of a thunderstorm. What if I only wrote the sounds--Boom Boom! And my idea was born.

Oh, I have lots of advice! I would say to join a critique group, because it is almost impossible to be objective about your own work. This is a great way to get feedback and brainstorm ideas, and deal with writer's block. If you are a children's writer, I suggest joining SCBWI as well :o)

One way I deal with writer's block is: I start asking myself questions. What could be a problem? How could I solve this problem? What hasn't been done before? My brain usually gets to work on these questions right away, and answers them.
