T.L. Evans The best thing for me about being a writer is the writing. If I don't write, I get grumpy, upset and generally unpleasant to be around. When I do, I am happy because even when it's hard, its living life in the zone... and I love it.
T.L. Evans The best way to deal with writers block for me is to get a lot of sleep. In fact, sometimes I even do a "caffeine free day," take a sleeping pill and just crash for a whole day and night.

The next day, I just start writing. Sometimes I go back a chapter or so and begin by editing, other times I just plow into it. Either way, for me, the only real way to get back in the saddle is to write through the block...
T.L. Evans A lot of my inspirations come from listening to music. A song or orchestral piece comes on, and it sparks an idea in my mind. Once planted, I often listen to that piece just before sitting down to write. I also go for long walks... and recently have started working on a tread desk... which has proven extremely useful in generating new ideas (not to mention keeping me in shape)
T.L. Evans The most recent book came about a bit by accident. While I wrote Strings on a Shadow Puppet as a stand alone novel, I had of course thought of potential sequels. Indeed, I had even outlined one. The only problem was that the edits of Strings left me in a different place than I had originally thought.

To that end, I decided to change tact a bit, and instead of writing the more military style adventure I had outlined, I wrote a more espionage style caper. It also looks deeper into some of the characters motivations and explores other corners of the universe I created.
T.L. Evans I am presently working on a new science fiction novel entitled, "The Traitor's Gambit." A stand alone novel, it continues the story of many of the characters first met in "Strings on a Shadow Puppet," but is more of a caper/undercover espionage novel.
