Susan Kiley I'm fortunate in that I haven't experienced writer's block in all the years I've been writing. I know many authors, friends, and clients have experienced at one time or another.

I think the problem is a writer wants to control their characters; this isn't possible (cliche). When I started the journey I expected A to do X and B to do Z, however, all of a sudden A was doing Z and B was doing Y...my story and characters led me through to the end.

I think when you allow your characters to have a say in their story, writer's block won't happen (as often).

Then again, I probably jinxed myself and now I'll have writer's block...
Susan Kiley My inspiration comes from life: children, animals, coaching, and the life situations I have persevered from. And, I'm a hopeless romantic with a crazy sense of humor.

Sometimes I start with one thing in a book and then end with another...my mind is always racing (and my fingers can't keep up) as I go through a story.

Every day I write something in either my fiction or non-fiction books. I have one book in each genre started, simultaneously completing both. I know many would say DON'T DO THAT, however, because I do write in different genres, I keep inspired by sharing my 'wisdom' with others and that propels me to finish my world within my head. :-)
Susan Kiley My mind is a crazy and wild ride. A lot of my characters and situations come from my life, expanding 40+ years. Love Struck is fictitious. One day I started dreaming of meeting a boy on a beach, and not in the cornfields of the Midwest, though, that may be interesting because I met my first boy in the cornfields. That's for a different question. :) The long and short of it -- my mind. I do a lot of thinking and dreaming. My favorite past time is observing people. Love Struck is a short romance--a quickie to get Katie and Travis out of my head and onto the pages for others to enjoy.
Susan Kiley Write.
Write.
Write.

Keep writing even when someone tells you that you stink. Keep studying, watching, reading and writing. Take a break whenever you find yourself falling 'out of love' for your characters.

Be you. Enjoy the creative freedom writing provides.
