So many influences went into This is the Sea. The idea was born on my trip to the Outer Banks a few years ago. I knew I wanted to write a book about water, ships, and a lighthouse. A lot of ideas also came from lyrics from Elton John's "Tumbleweed Connection". It's an incredible album, and the river, military, and family themes in Bernie Taupin's lyrics really stuck with me.

I'm currently working on a contemporary romance set in Williamsburg, Virginia for NaNoWriMo 2020. It's been a fun genre switch.
