Difficult question. Deadlines and the prospects of non-payment if I miss them are key motivators that do tend to work. I'm suffering from a form of writer's block at the moment. My day job writing is unaffected but the really creative stuff (with only self-imposed deadlines) I was hoping the storm away with is just not coming. Hey ho.
