Lulu Astor I wanted to try writing a dark tale of redemption. Flannery O'Connor has called the murderer in her story A Good Man is Hard to Find the character most capable of redemption in that story. I always found that idea curious though I understand her thinking behind it.

As far as actually redeeming an evil character, well, I have seen other writers attempt it and wanted to see if I could do it as well or better. The jury is still out.

Lulu Astor The art of storytelling is important for fiction writers but so is learning how to craft the best sentences. Language can be beautiful but one must work at becoming facile with words. Don't assume you can be a writer until you are comfortable using language in an efficient way and still make it beautiful.
Lulu Astor I was born a writer so I know no other way.
Lulu Astor I deal with writer's block by reading other writers' novels, magazine articles, or anything that strikes my fancy. If I focus too much on my block, I find it more difficult to overcome it. When I ignore it, my muse comes limping back eventually.
