In some form or fashion, you are adding to the record of humanity. My first publication "Notes from Afghanistan" captures the boredom of a combat zone from the perspective of someone who can't be in combat. When the dust settles, and the historians start doing a recap of America's longest war, I might have some perspective of relevance.
