David M. Selcer I started the website about three months ago. I got so confused trying to get it going myself that I finally contacted an expert who figured everything out for me. I'm glad you like Lincoln's Hat. Thank you very much, Encouragement is what every writer needs. If you really like it, why not list it on Goodread's Listopia?.
David M. Selcer I'd take a time machine back to all the greatest historical moments in time; interview each of the main participants, and ask them what meaning their moment in time would have for the future.
David M. Selcer "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari
David M. Selcer I had a dream that turned out many years later to be reality. It was about my daughter.
David M. Selcer My favorite fictional couple is Sally Hairston, a free Black, and Harlan Pomeroy, a "conservative" white journalist trying to make his name as a political writer during the Civil War. They are my favorite because Sally, though without any education, understands the ways of the world, but Harlan, a highly educated graduate from Columbia, is totally at sea when it comes to understanding just about everything. ---See LINCOLN'S HAT and the TEA Movement's Anger.
David M. Selcer Write a lot. m Read even more.
David M. Selcer That usually happens because something is bothering me or I don't feel good. When it happens, I just wait.
David M. Selcer The free-fall thought involved in the whole business. It's so much fun to pretend.
David M. Selcer A historical fiction novel called Lincoln's Hat. I've always loved history and I was born on Lincoln's birthday. I think I am trying to say in this book that our political positions all have consequences we are not counting on.
David M. Selcer I got the idea for Muscles, Music and Murder from my days as a labor lawyer for the Columbus symphony and from a musician who was a manic depressive.
David M. Selcer I noticed I have to be happy and in a good mood in order to write. I also noticed that when I just sit down and write, not knowing really where it's coming from, I do better than when I try to proceed from any clear inspiration with a definite purpose in mind. I think my characters inspire me.
