Carolee Russell As the lightning flashed and flashed outside the window of Timmy's bedroom, he bravely glanced with wide saucer eyes at the window and gasped as he saw, with each lightning flash, a grotesque silhouette that made his heart pound faster and faster but his muscles were too frozen with fear to run. Just then, a shadowy figure leaped from the window sill onto Timmy's bed and meowed.
Carolee Russell My first impulse was to answer Pandora from Avatar but I don't think Avatar was actually a book. But that is the most imaginatively splendid world in which I could hope to live. However, I am extremely partial to J.K.Rawlings' magical world represented in the Harry Potter books. I am afraid I would be a maverick, however. I would want to mingle with the muggles and spread a little magic on the sly to make life a little easier for some, and a bit of a punishment for others (who fully deserve it, of course).
Carolee Russell I am partial to sci-fi and would like to read John Carter. Don't have a lot of time for reading as I am way behind on my new book, A RACE FOR MURDER, which takes place during the Kentucky Derby. Hope to have it finished by the end of the year.
Carolee Russell I was in my mid twenties when a group of us would rent a house on weekends in the winter near a ski resort. Actually only a few of us would ski; most of us just went to party at the local clubs. This was during the time of drug experimentation, of which I knew very little. Several of my friends, however, were using marihuana and some LSD. Although they knew me well enough not to try and influence me to partake, their stories about the affects of those drugs were eye-opening. This doesn't sound like much of a mystery, but I think all of it sets the stage for an interesting intrigue.
Carolee Russell Your question is not specific as to whether the inquiry is referring to just my books or to any fictional couple. In my book, "Murder in the Haunted House," I am rather partial to Dominique and Ralph Baldwin because I see them as a uniquely intuitive gardener tending to the most delicate flower in the greenhouse. They are a testimony of what love can do in a relationship and the bond that is made when the match is perfect.

There are so many greatly inspirational couples out there obviously created by exceptional writers. But the couple that touched me most, I think, is in the movie "Avatar" - Jake Sully and Nateri who us that love has no boundaries between races or even species.
Carolee Russell The astonishment that comes with creating something unique...and seeing your name associated with it.
Carolee Russell Start with stray thoughts...write them down...then start matching them up much like putting together a jigsaw puzzle.
Carolee Russell Just DO IT!!!! Got an idea....write it down...start expanding an outline....keep at it a little bit a day...organize your day so you have a specific time to devote to your writing project...and stick to it!
Carolee Russell Back in the mid 80's I wrote four murder mystery party plays, like MURDER IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE (which was my first). I have been working on the second one, A RACE FOR MURDER, which coincides and depends on The Kentucky Derby for its venue. I took time out to write IN HIS TIME, but will go back to A RACE FOR MURDER, hopefully for publication before the end of this year.
Carolee Russell Sometimes it seems my brain is overloaded with ideas all fighting to be first priority. That could explain why it takes me so long to complete a project.
Carolee Russell Truthfully, my niece, Gail Kennedy, had written a very abbreviated story which I promised to turn into a printed book and have published with her name as co-author. She was so thrilled to see her name on the cover, my heart almost popped out of my chest. Gail has had cystic fibrosis since she was a baby and is confined to a wheelchair. She is a delightful loving person who brings joy to all who know her. It was my pleasure to bring some joy back to her.
