Kim Taylor Blakemore Hi Diane!
Harrowboro is based on an amalgam of Harrisville and Peterborough. And the town of Turee in After Alice Fell is based on Temple.

PS- I love New Hampshire!!!
Kim Taylor Blakemore I'm currently working on a novel called "Under the Pale Moon". It's women's historical fiction set in 1946 in Monterey, California. The book focuses on two women, one married, one a combat nurse and artist who's just returned from the war and the occupation of Germany. The post-war world was difficult for a lot of women, who had had responsibility and autonomy during the war, but then found themselves hedged in by new models of conformity and stability. Oh, and did I mention they were once lovers who find themselves drawn to each other again?
Kim Taylor Blakemore Read read read. Read good books, great books, bad books. Figure out what makes them tick. Study craft, by going to workshops and reading craft books. Watch movies and see how the three act structure works (when done well). Write. No matter what. Find time to sit down, put words on a page. One word leads to one sentence leads to one chapter leads to one story.

Be bold. Be a perfectionist. Write the book you want to read.
Kim Taylor Blakemore I don't know if I have writer's block, so much as I have blocked myself into a corner with a story or scene. It's a matter then of spooling back to the beginning, seeing if the character is acting according to themselves, or being forced to do what I feel is the right plot choice - and I find the character is always right! Other times, I will return to deepen character biographies, revisit major plot points, shift scenes and motivations. And other times, I just give it a rest for a week or so and let everything be.
