Christopher J. Smith I simply wake up in the morning.
Christopher J. Smith I've just finished my fourth book and I am currently pursuing publishers (so far in vain). Meantime I am compiling a volume of my short stories.
Christopher J. Smith I believe writing is storytelling... fact or fiction it doesn't matter. I don't think you can learn to be a writer, you either are or you aren't. All you can do is learn to be a better writer, so start young and never stop. Write anything, it doesn't matter what. Every person on this planet is a story, but not everybody is born with the ability to communicate that story.
Christopher J. Smith Tough question! For me I guess it's because as a writer you never stop learning and I don't just mean improving as a writer. If you're a writer then chances are you are a voracious reader and consumer of information.
Christopher J. Smith I really don't suffer from writer's block, but if I'm working on on a book and I feel I've run off on a tangent or I'm maybe struggling with the narrative, then I just shut it down and commence a short story. It can be anything from a couple of short paragraphs to three or four thousand words. I just find the satisfactory completion of a short story a tonic that refreshes the brain. If you're writing 5000 words a day five or six days a week it can get pretty murky in there.
