Jim Laughren Like most writers I have too many irons in too many fires. That said, I'm putting most of my energy into a genre novel and also into a regional wine book. I know, I know. But you never said my answer had to make sense.

The other "best thing" is when a reader tells you how much they enjoyed your work; the feeling an author gets from that kind of feedback is deep and immensely satisfying.
Jim Laughren A common question but the reality is that a writer simply can't indulge writer's block, a writer must, in fact, deny its very existence. One key to writing is to plant yourself in the chair/sofa/swing/hammock every day and put words to paper (or screen). Writing as a profession is like any other; doctors don't have doctoring block, real estate agents don't have house-selling block. While it's true that artists may paint over a canvas fifty times or musicians may search over and over for the right note or tempo or that architects may resize and redesign a single project dozens of times, the salient point is that people doing work they believe in strive to accomplish something each and every day.
