I stop trying to think about the story I'm on. I listen to music, I go for walks, I watch tv, anything as a distraction. The story will come back when it's ready.

In a small kind of way, you get to be God. You have a certain amount of control, but often Characters do or say things that will surprise you and you realize that you can control most things, but not everything.

I am just finishing up the first draft and it is turning out nicely. The story begins shortly after Reaching Home ends and shows the difficulty a transgender child faces prior to transitioning fully and the frustration of living that kind of duality. Just as Desiree is getting comfortable, the new Social Worker (who took over Desiree's case when Mr. Pritchard retired) discovers that Janice is allowing Desiree to explore her femininity and takes issues, going as far as ending Desiree's placement and returning her back to the boy's home she came from. Janice is in for the fight of her life to get her back and Desiree does her best to hold onto who she is.

Oh, that is going to be a hard read, as your stories often are. How could anyone put her back in that place?
