Pixie Hart Hi Jessica! Honestly, I spent years circling the idea before I actually wrote the book. The hardest part for me was building the “spine” of the whole story: the main points, the big plot turns, and where the saga was going. Once I had that, the first draft finally started moving.

The first manuscript took me about four months to write, but it looked like a completely different book compared to the version I eventually published. What I had to learn the hard way is that the first draft just needs to exist. Ugly, cold, messy, full of holes and grammar mistakes… lol. That’s normal.

Only after that can you start editing and shaping it into an actual book. So my best advice is: keep going. Don’t keep looking back. Don’t chase perfection in the first draft. Just get it down. The next one gets faster, and little by little you find your rhythm. These days I can draft a manuscript in about a month, but editing still takes me more than twice as long.

And honestly, this is the part nobody really sees. Even after you publish, it doesn’t always bring that huge “high” people imagine. It can still feel lonely. Sometimes it feels like nobody sees you or your story at all… until one day you get a review, or a message, and realize someone did read it. Someone connected with it. Someone cared. And little by little, that’s when things start to change.
