Hi Sharanya! So glad you loved the novel. I struggled with those scenes at first, often having to walk away from the computer and come back later. But as I continued to write, it became easier. It was clear that by the end, though the subject matter still bothered me given the brutality she faced, writing it didn't. Reminded me of the frog in hot water analogy. If you drop him into boiling water he jumps out, if you put him in cool water and heat it slowly, he'll boil to death. That is sort of how abusers slowly hook their victims into believing that behaviour is normal. Very eye-opening. Thanks for the question! :)
