Jeanette Watts What ever happened to that pair of roller skates I can't find anymore...
Jeanette Watts Anne McCaffrey's Pern. I want to meet a dragon! Especially her dragons. Although I'd be quite content to have a fire lizard if no dragon chose me. They're still way cool!
Jeanette Watts The moving van with all my possessions in it pulled away. Never to be seen again.
Jeanette Watts Right now I'm reading a book on the Battle of Waterloo, because I really don't know much about the Napoleonic Wars. We hear a little about them in Jane Austen... but what was actually going on out there while the families were back home worrying?
Jeanette Watts Does it have to be from literature? Or do movies count? If movies count, it might have to be Rick and Ilsa from Casablanca. Those 2 just get under your skin, and stay there. If it needs to be from literature, I might pick Rose and Mac from Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom. It's simply a sweet and real story - love shows up in the most unexpected places.
Jeanette Watts Hi Anne! "Jane Austen Lied to Me" is written, and I have a publisher for it! I'm waiting for her to send me the contract. Then her editor goes over it, then I can get it in print...! Please stay tuned!
Jeanette Watts Inspiration can come from so many different sources! I'm writing a pilot for a TV show based on a text conversation. Jane Austen Lied to Me came to me while driving home from the Jane Austen Festival in Louisville. Brains and Beauty was inspired by all the people who read Wealth and Privilege, then walked up to me glaring, and asked, "You ARE writing a sequel, RIGHT?!?!?!?"
Jeanette Watts Two projects at once: the sequel to Wealth and Privilege, which I'm calling Brains and Beauty, is being proofread right now. Meanwhile, I'm finishing up a satire called "Jane Austen Lied to Me." It's a lighthearted little novel, set in modern times, on a modern college campus, starring your everyday modern teenager.
Jeanette Watts Write every day. The hardest part is getting the first book completed. Once the first one is done, it magically becomes easier to make the time to write.
Jeanette Watts It's an excuse to travel! Research trips, book signings, I love traveling.
Jeanette Watts I sit at the sewing machine with the passage I'm working on in front of me. I sew and think, then I put down the sewing and write. Then I go back to sewing.
