Anthony Eglin If I write a seventh book, it would be something I should certainly have to resolve.
Anthony Eglin One mystery that comes to mind could be centered on the Antiques business, in which I played a part. Being part of the past antiques often
present mysteries in themselves: who made them? Where were they made?
Why their desirability? It would be fun to create a detective who specialized in crimes that involved treasures from the past.
Anthony Eglin Part of the inspiration came from an event that took place a few years ago, when two rose aficionados touring Alcatraz Island discovered a rare French rose, that had been declared extinct, growing in a wild area, among the brambles and weeds.

I took that single moment and handed it Lawrence Kingston who started to investigate, shocked to discover that he was embroiled in three divergent mysterious and murderous events, spanning sixty years and crossing two continents. But don't let me spoil it for you.
Anthony Eglin Having just finished The Alcatraz Rose, I'm taking a long breath, weighing ideas for a new Kingston mystery, spending more time in my garden and reading...that's when I'm not busy working on ways to promote the new story.
Anthony Eglin If it's fiction, treat it like any other job. Write at least five days a week for as long as you can. The more you write, you'll be amazed at how fresh ideas pop into your mind when you least expect it. Work hard on your characters, they're the one's telling the story, not you.
Anthony Eglin My new mystery, "The Alcatraz Rose" came out on November 8 in paperback. The Kindle version will be available November 20.
Anthony Eglin My way of dealing with it, is to write anything. Anything that comes to mind, providing it's related to the part of the plot you're dealing with. It may be drivel but if you keep going sometimes you'll discover the beginnings of an idea that will help you forward. The other way, is to walk away from it (I walk round the garden or make a cup of tea) and go back to later. Churchill put it this way: "If you're going through hell, keep on going!"
