Jennifer Hansen My advice for aspiring writers is to just start and keep writing. The story will come to life the more you write. Also, take a writing course; look at your local library or local college writing center. I attended Arizona State University Desert Night Writers Conference and I was so inspired by other authors sharing their struggles and offering their personal advice - my writing really came to life after attendance. Each author and writer there brought a different perspective and helped me see I didn't have to be an expert in writing to become an author.

Have Courage!
Jennifer Hansen I got the idea for Courage to Carry at the very beginning of my own surrogacy journey. I was searching for a book that walked through the experience from a surrogate’s perspective—start to finish—with honest emotional and physical detail. I wanted to understand what daily life would really feel like: how it might impact my relationships, my identity, and the quiet moments no one talks about.

That book didn’t exist in the way I needed it.
So as I went through my first journey, I began journaling—constantly. I documented specific moments, conversations, fears, and breakthroughs, knowing there might come a day when those pages could become something more.

Courage to Carry is the book I was looking for—the unfiltered, deeply personal account I wish I had when I first said yes to becoming a surrogate.
