It's true! The Treasure Map released today and I'm so excited! With the kind of story I wrote, the inspiration comes from a lot of places, but as far as Niko's journey it has a lot to do with how our culture is changing and becoming ever more volatile over time, reminding me a lot of how Christians have been treated at different times in history, but especially by the Roman empire. I worry not so much for me, but for my children and what they're going to deal with when they are grown.
As far as book inspirations, a little bit of Hunger Games mixed with a little bit of Narnia and a sprinkle of Calvin and Hobbes.
