Joe Pan Thank you for reading! The reason I invented a new drug was because when I first began writing this book a long time ago, meth was the drug I focused on. Over time, the epidemic shifted to opioids, which landed one of my brothers in prison and hurt a great deal of people nationally. Ultimately I decided the specific drug wasn't as important as the experience. Plus, a novel drug would allow the Club to be the primary manufacturer and disseminator, giving them more power, as anyone who wanted it would have to go through them.
Joe Pan I'm always happy to travel to any world dreamt up by Toni Morrison, Kurt Vonnegut, Cormac McCarthy, Mike Flanagan, Clarice Lispector, Stephen King, or Denis Johnson.
