Christie Cote Using my creativity and building whatever I want with my words. I love telling stories and it is rewarding writing something and looking at it after and say, "I did that!"
Christie Cote I had an assignment for my fiction writing class in college. The teacher wanted something that was realistic instead of "genre," and I had wanted to work on an apocalyptic story. I have always been interested in anything medical, so I started a story about a girl being diagnosed with leukemia. I never expected to become so involved with it, but once I started I had to keep writing. The next thing I knew, I had finished my first book. :)
Christie Cote I get inspiration from all kinds of things, songs, conversations, the world... The list for how I get inspired is endless. Seriously, I have a list of ideas that I'm itching to write. I don't force inspiration, it just comes to me at random times. Luckily, I always have my phone to jot down new inspirations. :)
Christie Cote Do you write? Yes? Well then you are already a writer, not an aspiring writer ;). My advice is to keep reading and writing and never give up. If writing a book seems like an impossible feat, just keep typing and eventually all of those little writing sessions will turn into something big! Once you finish your first novel you won't be able to stop. Oh, and always write for yourself first, not what other people want you to write. Stay true to yourself and you will write something beautiful!
Christie Cote I don't usually get writer's block. I think that is because I don't usually outline my book, I just write and see where it goes. If I'm having a difficult time with a part, I will skip to another and then go back to it.
