I am working on the proof of the final draft. Should have that finished this week, then it will be off to the professional proofer and editor. If you wanted to have a read of it as pdf before publishing, I would be happy to show you it?

The final instalment in the Robert Knight trilogy, a more grown-up book is out later in the year. Along with two others. Much love, Ian.

My latest book is the final part of the Robert Knight trilogy and is a love story between Robert and Tazmin, that deals with the two biggest questions of all in our existential struggle for happiness (permission to vomit!). It revolves around them and the music business, I have never worked in the music business, but many of my friends have, I stole a lot of the ideas from them. The big ideas belong to us all.

The biggest inspiration for writing is reading, followed by life experiences. Don't watch crappy tele, get up and do something, even if it is just reading and not trekking through the Amazon rainforest.

I am currently working on editing two finished novels and planning a book about school life. I have the plot and I am working on a staff list of all the characters before I start, which is about 110 in total, so you can see why it is taking a chunk of time to get going. I am also in period where I am earning money working. Don't think you are going to get rich writing fiction novels, unless you are very, very lucky. Remember, the first Potter only had a print run of 500!

Read - not just the books in the genre you are going to write, books about the 'craft' of writing, you often learn more from these than passively reading lots of books. Write, you often hear writers say, 'write everyday.' This is not always possible in our busy lives', but make up for the days you miss.

Creativity: Here's an empty book with 300 pages, fill it with 120,000 words, with character, plot and engagement that someone else will want to read (maybe pay for?). That never scares me, only excites me. I like many writers think I will have a good beak of months before I embark on the next novel, but the itch starts up again almost immediately.

I have never had writer's block. This is because I have several books in the 'pre-planning stage', as well as one I am generally working on. I have about six books I am going to write in the future, for these I have both computer files and paper wallet files. I often write the dialogue between characters even before I write the book, I jot down notes, quotes, information, articles, plot, characterisation, etc. If I live long enough I may one day encounter this mystical writer's block I heard about!
