Do lots of research and make sure that you learn your market, make sure you promote yourself, you can have an amazing story, but if no one knows about it, how can they purchase it. I'd tell you to develop thick skin. Don't allow anyone to steal your passion. Write from your heart and allows remember why you started writing.

I take a step back from writing and just read to get my mind flowing again. Or sometimes I find my block because I'm trying to get through a scene and just don't know how, so I skip that scene and go to the next, then come back to it.

My favorite fictional character is Tracy from Flyy Girl because she represents the coming of age story about the struggles of being an African America teen in the inner city. I saw myself a lot in Tracy. I felt I grew with Tracy.
