My mom used to turn on the Discovery Channel WAY back when they started Shark Week. What are we on now? 27 years? Wow, that sort of gives my age away, doesn't it? Anyway, I watch it every year, and I just find them fascinating.

Sometimes things just pop into my head. My current series involves a lot of sharks and shark interaction. That totally comes from my love of Shark Week. Sometimes something one of my kids does or says give me an idea, or sometimes ideas come from friends or even wacky posts on Facebook!

I was inspired by my niece who is the "model" for one of the main characters in the book. She is a beautiful girl, dedicated, hard-working, loving, and kind. I wanted a character just like her and I wanted a book just FOR her.
