I'm currently writing 'The First Crusade', and it will be my most ambitious project to date. Some days are harder than others, but a true writer finishes books and moves on, he doesn't dwell on one manuscript for years and years.

Set a small word-count goal each day. I started at 300 words per day for about four months, and I gradually built up to 2000 words a day. Consistency is the key. Writing is a marathon, not a sprint. Also, you have to read a lot, particularly best-sellers, to understand what good writing truly is. Lastly, write the kind of books that YOU want to read.

I'll stare at a blank screen for up to 30 minutes, reciting and discarding sentences in my head. Eventually, I'll pinpoint exactly what I want to say, and I'll build up my ideas one word at a time...It's a painstaking process, but the results speak for themselves.
