.My Mom was in and out of Byberry from 1953 thru the 80s, I am 63 now and spent the last two hrs crying after looking at the history. We had no other place for my mom. when my grandmother died I was living in Jersey and took my mom to live with me. I could not keep her with me, she was violent at finally got a place for her that she died in What does Philly do with violent mental patients now?

J.P. Webster Sorry for the delay. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. That type of story was so common unfortunately. Today, there a only a few hospitals in PA that house forensic patients. None are near Philadelphia. Most types of cases are dealt with in small, community-based mental health centers.
