Nathan Williams I remind myself of the reasons why I write. When it comes down to it, I hope my writing inspires other people in some small way, just as I've been inspired by some of my favorite writers. When I think about that, it's easy to get inspired to write.
Nathan Williams I'm working on the third part of what will be a complete novel titled The Thought Cathedral. Parts 1 and 2 are written, although part 2 is with my editor and I won't be releasing that for another week or so. Part 2 is called The Ingenuity Ball and part 3 is The Concept Bazaar.
Nathan Williams My best advice is to figure out who you are and then make sure you're true to yourself in your writing. Nobody else can write a story exactly the same way you can. Figure out your voice in your writing and stay true to that.
Nathan Williams I think writer's block is just my subconscious mind telling me I'm taking the story in the wrong direction. If I work backward a bit and work to truly understand all the elements of my story, it usually doesn't take long to figure out where I've gone off the tracks a bit.
Nathan Williams There are a lot of things i love about being a writer. The main thing for me is that I get a chance to try and inspire other people through my writing. I think that's the most honorable outcome from writing, or all the arts for that matter. I hope my writing inspires people to be a better person or live a better life in some way.
Nathan Williams The original idea for my most recent book, American Grease, came from one of my favorite movies, Spy Game. I really wanted to understand China more and was interested in writing a spy book. I loved the structure of Spy Game where the main protag has a series of flashbacks that reveal, in stages, the backstory behind the characters.
