Winifred Morris I don’t make much up. I draw from everyone I’ve known, everything I’ve seen, and sometimes from things I’ve read about in the news. But these sources give me just the physical layout, potential action and situations. For the deeper stuff, I feel writing novels is a lot like method acting, with me playing all the parts. I have to draw from my own emotions. They’re the only ones I know well enough.
Winifred Morris I’m not exactly sure what that is. But sometimes I know what I’ve written is wrong so I can’t go any further with the story until I figure out what’s wrong and revise, which can take some getting away from my desk for a while. I feel my writing always benefits from some time away from it so that I can come to it with fresh eyes.
