Great question. I had to think about the answer for a while. I think it has to be Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morely from the brilliant One Day by David Nicholls. It's such a well crafted story and the journey we are taken on through the lives of these two forever connected souls is gripping.

Hi Tehreem, book 2 and indeed book 3 are already available from Amazon. The Master's Revenge is book 2 and Journey to the Other Side is book 3. Book 4 will be out later this year.

I've always loved writing, but never seriously considered it as a job or career until I was in my 30's. I used to spend my lunch times roaming through charity shops looking for good books. I would then spend every spare minute reading and getting lost in the world the author creates. This re-sparked my love for my own writing and got me doing it again. I hope this answers your question.

Hi, thanks for the question. It wasn't hard to get it published as we now have the option of self publishing. It was very hard to try and get a traditional publisher though which is why i opted for the self-published route at first. You need to have patience and belief in your work. Are you an aspiring writer?

I listen to music. I always listen to a soundtrack that I can picture scenes of my book matching. For example with The Viking's Apprentice I played the Tron Legacy sound track over and over and could picture the scene in my head. With the music it helps me develop the scene and shows me where the next part of the book should go. Strange but it works, give it a go!

I write books for kids aged 8 and over. So for me it's getting to meet these kids in school visits etc and chatting to them. Kids will tell you exactly what they like and don't like about your book. There's no sugar coating. The best moment so far was receiving a email from a teacher who told me that The Viking's Apprentice had inspired a boy who didn't read to take up and actually enjoy reading.
Also things like people sending you photos of their kids dressed as characters from your book for world book day is pretty amazing.

Never give up and always use a proof reader and editor. The amount of outstandingly successful authors I have spoken to who have said the only difference between them and 1000 who failed is that they didn't give up.
Stay true to the story you want to write and believe in it. If you don't believe in it how can you convince the readers?
Always have an editor who is not close to the book. Let them find the errors and take on board their suggestions and remember they are trying to improve your work.

I'm working on book 4 in The Viking's Apprentice series. I really looking forward to getting it out to all the fans, but at the same time I'm a little sad as this will bring the adventure to an end.

Stephen King wrote a book called the Eyes of the Dragon for his children. I read it when I was young and it inspired me to give writing a go.

I'm on book 4 in The Viking's Apprentice series so the idea flows from the first three books. The original idea was inspired by the setting and the scenery on a drive up to my mother in laws. From there my imagination took us to The Viking's Apprentice.
