Charles Lee Upon waking in the middle of the night to the sound of your own screams, your heart pounds like a thumping rabbit as your bed pulses in matching rhythm. Wishing it would stop, it does in a lulling, slow warmth that bathed your body as you sink into the toothy flaps of your own digestive flesh cup.
Charles Lee Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist. They have this silent understanding of one another while having such unmatched professionalism when at work and in public. Even alone they are like this, but with one major difference. The small gestures. They are small on the surface, but huge in meaning for one another. The gestures grow overtime, but the fact that there's real love and devotion behind it is something I respect. Loyalty and devotion is a beauty.
Charles Lee I was in a dark place in my life. My academic future was not where it should have been. My "family" had moved away and I was staying with someone who provoked my darkest thoughts. As an outlet, I thought I would write something reflecting my darkness. But it soon became something more. It evolved into a life of its own as the characters and their journey became more real in my mind. It became real to me. The Way To Dawn still reflects a dark air from within and from what I've long observed in my life time, but it now carries purpose; something I would not have had if I fell victim to mine.
Charles Lee Assuming you're speaking of the first book, Derexen and Minerva do not have a special connection, just a mutual understanding.

At the present time of the story, no. She is all about her duties. Her connection with Aquarius is based solely on how they met and their partnership.

However, people's futures can sometimes birth small changes...
Charles Lee Yes. Some reasons more obvious than most, like a flashback being told by the character's point of view, giving a more indepth personal feel. As for the overall reason, it plays a key roll in the series. At this time, I can not divulge that information due to spoilers.
Charles Lee Yes. I actually have several in the "blueprint" stage, three of which I'm quite excited about. One fiction, two fantasy. I'd also like to make a story of the steampunk genre and sci-fi. As for if any of those rudiment stories have series potential, I believe one of them do, but overall, it's too early to tell.
Charles Lee Dominion of Eden was almost like a restart. A new time, a new protagonist, a new world. So many things had changed from the passing years that I almost felt like this was a new beginning of some sort. If things were to be as Derexen desired, I had to imagine a world almost on the edge while avoiding the post-apocalyptic world view. I had to see a world clutched by darkness, but free of catastrophic endings. A world of eternal night where small glimmers of hope are tucked away in that same darkness. In short, a world without the customary day-to-day joys.
Charles Lee Expect to be broken. Many of these "successful" authors like to paint a pretty picture like all is great. It's not. There will be nights that all you want to do is drill a hole in your hollow chest and watch all you've done burn to ashes. In times like this, you must always, always, hold on to your conviction because without it, you're just a dreamer with a weak foundation.
Charles Lee Freedom of expression. Though you have to remember that there are those who will not see your vision or just want to tear you apart. But always remember, in your mind, you are free to be what you want. Don't compromise just because that world is now reaching the end of your pen.
Charles Lee Deal with writer's block? I don't deal with it. I either submit, or redirect my block to something else remotely related to my work. That alone can sometimes cure my clogged brain.
Charles Lee I'm currently doing my final additions and edits to book four, End of Days while writing book five.
Charles Lee My inspiration spawns simply by thinking of five characters. Afearia, Derexen, Valerie, Minerva, and a male character soon to be revealed in later works. I close my eyes and imagine my favorite events that are soon to come, and events that have already passed. From there, my mind goes on an instant high and I have to get to work before my chest explodes.
