June Hyjek "Unexpected Grace" came from my own experience when my fifth spinal surgery became my sixth and seventh all within two weeks. I began writing about my experience, my observations, and lessons learned during the difficult year-long recovery. I tried to be very honest and open about what I was feeling -- the good and the bad. Eventually, I began to understand that my experiences and what I learned could help other people going through difficult times, which is how the writing became the book.
